Student Health
Health promotion and preventive medicine along with a
responsibility for one’s own health, both physical and
emotional, are stressed. Students are encouraged to make
choices that will be beneficial in regard to their health and
well-being and which will enable them to serve as positive
role models for their clients. Information is available
concerning personal wellness, drug abuse prevention,
AIDS, alcohol awareness and other pertinent subject
matter.
All students are encouraged to have regular eye and dental
exams and to seek prompt medical attention as needed.
Health services are limited to providing guidance in
obtaining health - related information and referrals and
assuring that health requirements are completed according
to policies. Students are responsible for all costs associated
with health requirements and are encouraged to carry
medical insurance.
Each student is responsible for conveying information to the Registrar’s Office regarding initial health records as well as information relating to newly-diagnosed health problems, injuries or pregnancy.
Health Insurance
All students on the LCN-EIU campus are required to have
health insurance coverage. Students will be charged by
EIU for health insurance coverage. Students who already
have health insurance coverage show proof of coverage
and receive a health insurance waiver from the Student
Health Insurance Office located in the West Wing of the
Student Services. Once the coverage is waived it will be
continued to be waived for future semesters unless the
student makes the appropriate contact with the EIU Office
of Student Health Insurance by the appropriate deadline.
LCN-Danville students who wish to have health insurance coverage have access to coverage through the Sentry Insurance Company and the American College Student Association. Brochures can be obtained through the receptionist on the Danville Campus.
