Application Process for Students Transferring from Another Nursing Program

In consideration of application by students from other nationally accredited nursing programs to Lakeview College of Nursing the following policies/procedures are required:

  1. Transfer students must complete the same admission process as other candidates applying for admission.

  2. Transfer students must submit a satisfactory reference letter from the Dean/Director/Chair of the program from which they are transferring.

  3. Only nursing courses with a grade of B or better will be considered for transfer.

  4. Students must write a letter of petition for acceptance of transfer nursing courses and submit it, along with the syllabi and course descriptions of the courses in question, to the Faculty Organization c/o Connie Young, Director of Enrollment/Registrar.

  5. If the transfer student has attended a nursing program that offers Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI) testing, he/she should submit copies of their testing results.
  6. Each applicant will be evaluated on an individual basis to determine placement within the nursing program.  Availability of clinical space may also impact entry.

  7. Students will attend an orientation with discussion of philosophy, vision, mission, values, purpose, and objectives of the program.

  8. Transfer students must pass a medication calculation proficiency and a nursing skills evaluation before their first clinical course at LCN.

  9. Graduation requirements as stated within this website must be met before graduation.

  10. A minimum of 30 credit hours must be completed at Lakeview College of Nursing in order to earn a bachelor’s degree from said institution.
