CPR Requirement for All Students

Verification of current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a prerequisite for enrollment in all clinical nursing courses. The certification must cover both choking and CPR for infants, children and adults including two-rescuer for children and adults. Students may take a college course for credit or gain certification through the American Heart Association's "Healthcare Provider" course or by the American Red Cross "Professional Rescuer" course. Certification must be valid for the entire academic year, and must be renewed annually, regardless of card expiration date. A copy of a current certification must be on file in the Registrar's Office for students to participate in clinical experiences.
